About this accommodation

The château stands within the walls of Chalabre, a fortified medieval village at the foot of the Pyrenees. It is rented as a whole, for 16 people, and you have it to yourselves.

The 6 bedrooms each have their own colour scheme, their ornate ceiling and, for most of them, their original fireplace. Montsegur, once the Count's room, has kept its carved wooden fireplace and has its own balcony looking over the garden and the mountains. Peyrepertuse opens through 4 tall windows onto the terrace and the Mont d'Olmes. Queribus has its white marble fireplace, Lastours its red marble one and the oldest wardrobe in the house. The Puilaurens suite, the most recently renovated, has 2 bedrooms and suits families or groups who want to stay together. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, with a walk-in shower, bathrobes, a hairdryer and locally made bath products.

The shared rooms are made for settling into: the library, the blue salon, the grand salon with its hand-carved Baroque fireplace, the gym, and the dining room opening onto a south-facing terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped (2 ovens, a 90 cm gas range, a coffee machine) and leaves you free to cook as you please.

Outside, 2,700 m² of lawn and flower beds enclosed by high stone walls, a 12 x 6 metre swimming pool, an international-size petanque court (15 x 4 metres) and a barbecue. And beyond the gate, the village: that is the mix we love, a property of your own with French life right next door.

The château is open all year, for holidays, working stays, retreats or weddings. Extra beds can be added on request.
